About the book
Steve Andrews has spent a lifetime observing, writing about and speaking up for the natural world.
This memoir returns to the places, creatures and memories that shaped that lifelong connection – from childhood pets and pond life to moths, butterflies, wildflowers and disappearing habitats.
The book is both a personal story and a celebration of close attention: the kind of attention that allows nature to become magical again.
Written for anyone who remembers, or wants to rediscover, the wonder of the wild world close at hand.
“A delightful read for anyone who remembers – or wants to rediscover – the magic of paying close attention to the wild.”
