Newsletter – Issue 3

14 June 2026

Hello everyone,

Welcome to the third Leach Press and Oakist Press newsletter.

The aim is simple – once a week, I'll send a short update covering new books, new videos, events, projects and life at Oakwood.

Thank you for subscribing and supporting independent publishing.

Nature Boy's Magical World

Steve Andrews

A personal testimony of a life shaped by a profound and enduring connection with the natural world. Steve reflects on nature, spirituality, creativity and the experiences that have shaped his remarkable journey.

Physics, Consciousness & Reality

Oakwood Rewilding Project

Work continues at Oakwood in Llanbrynmair.

Recent activities have included new tree mulching, polytunnel planting, bracken crushing – daily! – dock management and woodland path production.

This weekend we used the path crusher to make way for Steve to run over the paths with his ride-on mower. We also took delivery of Cheeko the Chipper and started making large quantities of mulch.

Erika is working hard in the polytunnel and it is blooming with life. I have just sampled our garlic – a genuine game changer.

The land continues its gradual transition towards a more diverse and wildlife-rich landscape, while also providing space for food growing, community activities and low-impact living.

On one bank alone, I found common knapweed, noble yarrow, purple globe clover, greater bird's-foot trefoil, wild angelica, pussy willow, meadow buttercup, sorrel, corkscrew rush, blackthorn, hemp nettle, stinging nettle, Chinese crab apple, hawthorn, fireweed, cleavers, broad buckler fern, field brier, marsh thistle, tormentil, Atlantic ivy, blackberry, pignut, beaked hazelnut, goldenrod, Yorkshire fog, common dogwood, Algerian oak and common oak.

It was almost entirely bracken when we first arrived.

We are also planning the installation of a six-metre yurt for my partner's therapy practice – more news on that as it develops.

I also fitted a new window in the horsebox – much better now.
